MD ONE STAINLESS STEEL DUAL HEAD STETHOSCOPE
The MD One® is MDF Instruments® stainless steel dual head stethoscope. This dual head design is probably the most recognizable and time-tested of all stethoscopes. It’s been used and refined over time, all over the world.
Because of its simple and no-frills design, it’s easy to use and has become a very popular stethoscope; the workhorse if you will, for everyone from doctors and nurses, students to instructors and also paramedics. But the sad thing here is that because of the popular design, it also became widely produced and unfortunately became a commodity. Over the years we’ve seen manufacturers cut corners. They use cheap materials and they’re not even really concerned with design and construction. The basic things like performance and durability, went straight out the window.
What we wanted to do, and doing what we do best at MDF®, and that's going against the grain and challenging convention, was to revive this classic instrument with performance and durability. We wanted to celebrate this time tested but under appreciated classic dual-headed stethoscope, the workhorse, by giving it a whole new life as a thoroughbred racehorse.
Here's how the MD One® differs from the countless brands of stainless steel dual head stethoscopes out there. Following our craftsmanship tradition here at MDF®, what we have set out to do with the MD One® is really like what we did with all of our instruments, and it's very simple. We go with our craft and what's on the drawing board, and we throw out the cost analysis on spreadsheets.
Although we’re known for going against the grain here at MDF®, we also respect tradition, so we use the same time tested classic dual head design, and we tracked down the best material to achieve 100% stainless steel construction, and that's the entire headset and the entire chestpiece. Then we add up all of our suitable patents and features - into the eartip, into the headset, the tubing, the acoustic valve stem and also the chestpiece. As a result of us tinkering with the chestpiece, we achieved better acoustics and now it's easier to use.
