Sean Percy Travis, a Los Angeles Firefighter sat down with MDF Instruments to talk about burnout, depression, and how to combat both. The number one cause of line of duty death among first responders is suicide. As a firefighter himself Sean knows all too well the high stress environment, the sleep deprivation, and the long shifts that first responders face. He created Functional Hero to combat the breakdown of the first responder's vessel, through strategic physical implication of recovery and biohacking practices. Monroe College involves their students annually in a medical relief effort to The Dominican Republic. Each team is comprised of faculty, students and non-medical volunteers. Throughout the various clinics and communities they served, this year team tended to over 700 patients.

Mission Of Hope

In August 2013, Mission of Hope travel to Titaynen Haiti to provide free primary healthcare and referral services to those who do not have access to it in this rural region. The first week of their mission was spent traveling to individual houses in outlying villages to treat patients who cannot travel.

Each year, Manchester Community College nursing students venture out from New Hampshire to different parts of the world to provide medical relief to underserved and difficult to reach communities. They provide free health clinics to disadvantaged individuals throughout the communities they travel to.
